6,855 emergency food parcels provided to local people

27th May 2025

On Wednesday 21 May 2025, we released our stats on the number of emergency food parcels that South Liverpool Foodbank provided within our local community between April 2024 and March 2025.

The worrying new figures reveal that we have provided 6,855 emergency food parcels to people who couldn’t afford the essentials in South Liverpool over the last twelve months – and 2,264 of these went to children.

In addition to this, food banks across the Trussell community collectively provided nearly 2.9 million emergency food parcels to people experiencing hunger and hardship in the past year, with more than 1 million of these going to children.

Food banks are a last resort for people who’ve been left isolated, facing hunger, and without enough money to live on, and many are having to buy in stock as donations are not keeping up with need.

That’s why we’re calling on the public to play their part and support Trussell and their local food banks in any way possible, to help provide emergency food for people facing hardship.

Food banks offer hope, dignity, and relief to people facing hardship. Many food banks need vital funds to ensure they can continue to provide services beyond distributing emergency food, such as advice and support that unlocks money and services someone should be getting, as well as debt management advice, and other services aimed at helping people out of financial hardship.

Your generous support makes a huge difference. You can help make sure food banks can continue to provide warm, compassionate, practical support and advice in the year ahead by donating food or funds to Trussell or your local food bank to help end hunger in the UK. As we navigate meeting the need for our services, we would be incredibly grateful if you could please consider:

Thank you for standing together with us. We recognise how challenging things are right now, which is why we are so grateful for your support.

Together, we will be there for people who have been left without enough money to live on. And together, we will make a transformational difference in South Liverpool so that no one needs a food bank to get by.
