Our Annual Report is now available. It includes information about how we deliver our services, our financial accounts and the impact of our work across South Liverpool.
Here are some of the highlights:
- We provided emergency food and practical support to 8,402 local people: 5,626 adults and 2,776 children. The reason these people needed to turn to our food bank was because they simply didn’t have enough money to live on.
- Overall we saw a drop in referrals by around 20%. This positive news can be attributed to a number of factors, including a rise in the minimum wage and social security rates plus a lower rate of inflation and a reduction in fuel costs. In addition, two of the partner agencies we work alongside made changes to their service which resulted in fewer referrals.
- We provided additional support to hundreds of people. We connected many with debt, housing and social security advice agencies. Others with domestic and substance abuse organisations. And all to low-cost shopping alternatives e.g. food pantries, community food spaces and zero waste groups. We know that these interventions reduced the need for people to make a return visit to our food bank.
- Sadly, food and toiletry donations were down once again – considerably lower than the previous year, down from 136K kilos to 109K kilos. This worrying trend resulted in us having to purchase significantly more stock to meet demand for emergency food. Your donations enabled us to do this.

We couldn’t achieve any of this without our teams of dedicated volunteers, but most of all without help from our community, donors and supporters.
Our heartfelt thanks to all.
